Where the money goes

These figures are based on the current hosting bill and domain renewal. They show the recurring cash cost needed to run the service at its present scale.

  1. Hetzner hosting

The monthly Hetzner bill covers the server and public network address used by the website, app, API, database, background jobs, media storage, and mail service.

    €9.50
  2. screenlife.tv domain

The domain costs €25 per year. That annual renewal is spread across twelve months here to make the baseline easier to compare.

    €2.08
  3. Included and free services

TLS certificates, the self-hosted mail service, TMDB metadata access, monitoring, and on-server backups add no separate monthly bill today.

What the total does—and does not—include

One compact stack

The public site, member app, PostgreSQL database, scheduled workers, mail, monitoring, and local backups share one server. That keeps the recurring bill low and the architecture understandable.

Time is donated

Design, development, moderation, support, and maintenance are not priced into the total. They are contributed by the operator and are real work, even though they do not create a monthly invoice.

Donations cover the basics

Planned donations are voluntary and intended to cover hosting and the domain—not to sell access, visibility, or influence. ScreenLife remains usable whether or not a member contributes.

Community-funded

A small, transparent donation goal.

The funding plan is to request and accept voluntary donations toward the €139 annual baseline, instead of introducing a required subscription or advertising model. Contributions are for operational costs.

More storage, off-site backups, higher email volume, or a larger server may add paid services later. When that happens, this breakdown will be updated so members can see what changed and why.
